Dom DeLuise was an American actor, director, producer, chef and author. He rose to fame in the 1970s as a frequent guest on television variety shows, where he endeared audiences with his comedy. He appeared in films made by Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder, as well as collaborations with Burt Reynolds. He then branched out to voice acting in animated productions during the 1980s, expanding his popularity to younger audiences.
He studied in Manhattan’s High School of Performing Arts, then graduated from Tufts University with a major in biology.
His career spanned over 45 years, starting in Broadway musicals. While he got into serious acting at first, the idea of being a comedian had been in his head since his early days as a natural class clown in school.
