Jim Jarmusch

Jim Jarmusch Overview

Jim Jarmusch has been active in the film industry since 1979. He is a director, filmmaker, musician, screenwriter-editor and is most known for his signature way of making independent films. His notable works include 2019 The Dead Don’t Die, 2016 Paterson, 2013 Only Lovers Left Alive, 2005 Broken Flowers, and 2003 Coffee and Cigarettes.

The poignant depiction by Tom Waits of this acclaimed Indie filmmaker which was mentioned in the NY Times, defined Jarmusch akin to an alien; whose upbringing made him a foreigner to his adolescent years. The closest to this idea is much like an old soul within a very young man. Waits added that Jim Jarmusch’s films paint the world from that frame of mind.

His films in other words, were not made for commercial purposes. His aspiration is primarily for artistic value and thus not the usual fare. Albeit, he did attain box office success in many of his movies and with his own corresponding fans.
