Her glee club involvement as a soprano in school prepared her well for the part. According to Walt Disney Company Cravalho was the last to audition for this role. She hesitated to audition because there were already hundreds who submitted their samplers.
In just a span of two years hugging the limelight, she earned several nominations that include the Teen Choice Awards as Choice Movie: Fantasy Actress category, and co-sharing with Dwayne Johnson in the Favorite Frenemies Category in Kids’ Choice Awards both in 2017.
She won in the same year, the Choice Movie: Breakout Star category during the Teen Choice Awards, all in the Moana movie engagement.
In 2016, was nominated for Washington DC Area Film Critics Association for the Best Voice Performance Category. She won Alliance of Women Journalists and Annie Awards, two awards for Moana as Best Animated Female and Outstanding Achievement, Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production categories, respectively.
She was still unwavering and still doing her rendition of “How far I’ll Go” during the Academy awards when she was hit by a flag used by a dancer as they were performing together. She did an astounding job despite the glaring accident on stage.
